Sacred Heart church news

Sacred Heart Parish, Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, celebrates weekend Mass at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Allentown Diocesan directives during the current green phase of COVID-19. All returning worshippers are asked to call the Rectory Office at 610-826-2335 indicating the Mass time and how many will be attending. Daily Mass, Monday through Friday, is celebrated at noon.

The church remains open after daily Mass until 3 p.m. for private prayer. Sunday 9:30 a.m. Mass is livestreamed on Facebook for all who are unable to join us in person.

Seating capacity continues to be limited to 160 worshippers at each Mass. Wearing a facial mask and safe distancing is required. The sacrament of Confession continues to be offered by appointment only.

Please call the rectory office to schedule. All other parish and diocesan news can be found on the parish webpage at: www.shcpalmerton.org.

This weekend we celebrate the Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. The theme of the readings is the Vineyard of the Lord. At vintage time the master will return to receive the harvest. May we bear much fruit for him and be found pleasing in the sight by living lives deeply rooted and nourished in love.

We remind all those who placed haluski orders that pickup is from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 in the parish parking lot. Thank you to all who supported this event and to Roseann Heydt and Sue Steigerwalt for coordinating.

Oct. 10, Sacred Heart Men of Good News will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parish center. All men 18 or older are welcome. Masks are required and all CDC precautions will be observed.

October is the month of the Rosary and Pro-Life. Perhaps a good way to celebrate both would be by offering a Rosary for the intention of protecting all human life.

December Sweepstakes tickets have been mailed to all registered parish families. Your support of this parish fundraiser is important as we try to recoup lost revenue due to the pandemic. Please call the rectory office for additional tickets.

The Announced 2021 Mass Book opened on Oct. 2. Please stop by the Rectory during 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to schedule your Mass. Also, Memorial or In Honor of Candles can also be scheduled at this time.

Father Bill continues to ask for prayers, through the intercession of Father Walter Ciszek, whose cause for canonization to Sainthood has been submitted to the Holy See for study, that God will bless us with a cure for COVID-19 and restore the physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health to our global family.
