Local roundup: Results from Oct. 1

The Northwestern boys and girls soccer teams, along with the Tigers’ field hockey and volleyball squads, all recorded wins on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the Panther Valley volleyball team swept a doubleheader.

BOYS SOCCER

Northwestern-Wilson

Six different players scored as Northwestern cruised to a 7-1 Colonial League win over Wilson.

Seth Brady paced the Tigers with two goals, while Cayden Fitch added one goal and two assists.

Matt Johnson followed with one goal and one assist, while Phil Taylor, Aiden Bissell and Colin Coffield also scored.

Jeff Garcia finished with a hat-trick in assists for NW, while Josh Zellner was credited with one.

Austin Vogwill grabbed four saves in the win.

No. Lehigh-Moravian Ac.

Five first-half goals propelled Moravian Academy to a 6-1 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

Dale Berkove, Sam Carter, Archie Debbage, Rafael Sanjuan, Max Josa and Canton Reeves all scored for the Lions.

Chuck Wilk posted the Bulldogs’ lone goal in the second half, while Josh Sollars added the assist.

Logan Dyer made 12 saves for Northern Lehigh.

Palmerton-Bangor

Gabe Lawler’s five goals highlighted Bangor’s 11-3 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

Kaden Graziano followed with two goals for the Slaters, while Kaden Dowd, Markus Kieman, Derek Filipkowski and Hayden Burns added scores.

Corlan Wood led the Bombers with two goals, while Jonny Perloni also tallied a score. Ignacio Gonzalez added an assist.

Minersville-Weatherly

Two second-half goals lifted Minersville to a Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.

Isiah Kauffman and Jason Cullen scored for the Battlin’ Miners. Koda Whalen stopped 10 shots in the shutout.

Frankie Willis made 16 saves for the Wreckers.

GIRLS SOCCER

Wilson-Northwestern

Northwestern cruised to a 5-0 Colonial League win over Wilson.

Lexi Bleam had two goals and an assist for the Tigers. Kayla Bardonner scored twice, and Kylie Zentz finished with a goal and an assist. Quinn Conrey was credited with two assists, while Olivia Motolese recorded one.

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

Two second-half goals put Tamaqua over the top in a 2-1 Schuylkill League win over Jim Thorpe.

Lexi Thomas got the Blue Raiders on the board off a Sophia Boyle assist, and Gabby Robb recorded what turned out to be the game-winning goal off an assist from Thomas.

Kennedy Rider scored the Olympians’ lone goal in the first half off a Lexi Marotto assist.

Zoe Seltzer recorded 15 saves for the Blue Raiders. Katelyn Bos finished with two saves for the Olympians.

Moravian Ac.-No. Lehigh

Chloe Oudin’s goal was all Moravian Academy needed to secure a 1-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

The Lions held a 10-9 edge over the Bulldogs in shots on goal.

Erica Detweiler finished with seven saves for the Bulldogs.

Bangor-Palmerton

Palmerton blanked Bangor for a 2-0 Colonial League victory.

FIELD HOCKEY

Saucon Vy.-N’western

Northwestern knocked off Saucon Valley for a 2-0 Colonial League victory.

Reagan Hernandez scored first for the Tigers, and Brooke Page added a third-period goal. Charlotte Horn and Brynn Balliet each had assists.

No. Lehigh-Palisades

A late surge helped Palisades pull away for a 4-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

With the game tied at 0-0, Morgan Magditch scored in the third and fourth quarters for the Pirates, who also got second half goals from Abby Carey and Tori Bahnck. Angelina Rafalko, Ashley Amato and Angelina Day were credited with assists.

Hannah Higgins and Alcyia DeNato each had two saves in the shutout win.

VOLLEYBALL

Lourdes-Panther Vy.

Panther Valley swept a Schuylkill League doubleheader against Lourdes Regional.

The Panthers took the first game 25-15, 25-6, 25-11.

Alexis Cooper collected 11 digs - including the 500th of her career - while Abbey Vermillion and Sadie Trubilla added five kills apiece.

PV prevailed 25-6, 25-8, 25-19 in the second game.

Erika Dubosky recorded eight aces and six kills. Riley McArdle had eight aces and two kills, while Natalie White finished with four kills and one dig.

The Panthers also won the JV contest, 2-0.

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

Jim Thorpe posted a 25-10, 25-12, 25-4 victory over Tamaqua in Schuylkill League action.

Brandy Montemuro had 14 assists, nine kills, seven aces and six digs for the Olympians. Olivia Wolfe had seven kills and four aces, while Autumn Snyder also tallied seven kills.

Abigail McGinley had 13 digs in the victory, while Andi Hoherchak dished out 14 assists.

The Olympians also swept the JV match, 2-0.

Palmerton-N’western

Northwestern swept Palmerton in three sets to earn a Colonial League victory.

Sara Jenkins had four kills and four aces to help the Tigers post a 25-10, 25-10, 25-13 win.

Jenna Breininger added three kills and three aces, while Jacey O’Donnell collected 11 assists, three aces and five digs. The winners also received four aces, four digs and two assists from Ella Carson.
