Services continue

St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown continues to have its services in the grove at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The congregation and the church leadership are discussing reopening the buildings and doing it safely.

YouTube service

Those who missed a service at Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran in Kresgeville can go to the YouTube channel on the web and put in the name of the church, Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, in the search bar. Then pick which service to view.

Zion Lutheran

The Brodheadsville church continues to have its drive-in service at 9 a.m. Sunday mornings.

In addition, this Sunday at 1 p.m. there will be a Blessing of the Pets event.

Life Chain

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, will celebrate Life Chain this Sunday by praying the Rosary and forming a Life Chain near the entrance of the chapel and with the organizing of the chain, beginning at 2:40 p.m., keeping in mind that social distancing must be practiced due to the pandemic.

From 3 to 4 p.m. the group will be praying for the protection of all life.

Walk begins

Members and friends of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church have been notified that the parish will do a virtual walk to Bethlehem to meet Christ this Christmas.

The walk will begin this Sunday and end Dec. 20, the last Sunday in Advent.

Registration asked

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, requests that people planning to attend the church take the time to register for the service you will be attending. People can register through the month of October at https://reopen.church/r/KgEqTSFS

Worshippers are reminded that PV Kids and Nursery will only be available in the 11 a.m. service. The church wants to make sure space is available for guests.

If the two-service option is not suiting, the church is continuing to have its services streamed live and broadcast on 99.3 FM.

World Sight Day

Lions around the world are celebrating World Sight Day on Monday in honor of the 30th anniversary of Lions SightFirst program.

Supervisors meet

The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building in Brodheadsville.

Paddling event

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center has announced its Paddle at Tobyhanna on Tobyhanna Lake in Tobyhanna State Park for Oct. 6, beginning at 1 p.m.

Attendees will explore, observe and discuss the plants, animals and history of the lake. It is for those ages 14-plus.

One must provide one’s own boat and paddle. PFDs and launch permit are required.

Participants are to meet at the Tobyhanna State Park boat launch area at 1 p.m.

Registration is required and limited for this excursion. It is open until Monday, Oct. 5. Donations accepted. To register, call the center at 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Bird seed sale

Monroe County Conservation District’s Environmental Education Center has scheduled its truckload wild bird seed sale for Oct. 24.

This sale offers its members and the public the opportunity to purchase high quality bird seed at the lowest prices of the year and just in time for the winter bird feeding season.

This year’s sale will once again feature Aspen Song Bird Seed Blends. The Aspen Song formulas are the result of careful testing and a thorough knowledge of the target birds. The seeds contains no cereal grains or fillers, and come in a variety of blends and sizes. Also available will be black oil sunflower seed, thistle, suet and several other specialty mixes.

Also being offered is a wide variety of high quality Droll Yankee and other feeders, some of which are squirrel proof, in the gift shop. All proceeds from the sale of bird seed and feeders go to support the environmental education programs.

This sale is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24. The ordering deadline is Oct. 15. Obtain a complete order form by calling the center at 570-629-3061, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
