Tools, machinery are stolen in Monroe burglary

State Police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating a burglary that happened between 8 p.m. Sept. 4 and 8:34 p.m. Sept. 9 in Chestnuthill Township.

The victim, a 53-year-old man from Tobyhanna, reported to police someone used an unknown means to access his residence in the 100 block of Tilly Lane, Effort, and stole various tools and machinery before leaving the property in an unknown direction.

• State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating a theft incident in which someone stole a package off the front porch of a home in Penn Forest Township.

Police said the theft occurred between Aug. 30 and Sept. 3 at a Catawba Place address in the township.

The victim, Edward Knauss, 75, of Reading, told police the package, which contained an air mattress, was taken while no one was home. The thief left the area in an unknown direction, police said.

The mattress is valued at $65.
