Bethlehem state police release details on incidents

State police at Bethlehem reported on the following incidents:

• On Sept. 11 at 1:53 a.m. a 28-year-old man from Bath, Northampton County, was assaulted by a group of men, one of whom was armed with a hatchet, which was used to strike the victim in the hand as he was fleeing. The incident occurred in the area of 104 E. Main St., Bath. The men ran away before troopers arrived.

As a result of an investigation Kyle Hummel, 29, of Slatington, has been charged with simple assault, possessing instruments of crime and prohibited offensive weapon.

• On Sept. 20 at 12:17 a.m. troopers were westbound on Route 22 in Hanover Township, Northampton County, when they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop of the 2016 Subaru Legacy was made. Troopers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Found were numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia and multiple bags containing suspected marijuana.

Drug charges were filed against the 20-year-old male driver from Corona, New York, and his 19-year-old female passenger from Slatington. Troopers declined to identify the suspects.

• On Sept. 28 at 1:20 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the area of 1846 Catasauqua Road in Hanover Township, for a harassment report. Upon arrival troopers made contact with a 29-year-old man from Allentown, who said that a 40-year-old man from Palmerton, who troopers declined to identify, had struck him in the face and arm multiple times due to his relationship with the defendant’s wife.

The Palmerton male was cited for harassment - physical contact.
