Darlene Confer, office manager and bookkeeper for the Carbon County Parks and Recreation Commission, has been appointed the county’s gypsy moth coordinator.

Following her appointment by the county commissioners at yesterday’s meeting, Confer’s additional duties will include some bookkeeping and on-site observations.

Confer said she really isn’t certain if Carbon County has much of a gypsy moth problem, but she has received inquiries about the program from residents of the Beltzville and Penn Forest Township areas and will be working closely with the Bureau of Forestry in determining whether or not Carbon County needs to initiate a spraying program for the potential problem.
