Carbon County is working to maintain a low level of risk for its employees, a county commissioner said.
On Thursday, Commissioner Rocky Ahner commended the county employees for doing all they can do to make sure they are safe from COVID-19.
Last week, a man admitted into the county prison later tested positive for COVID-19.
Protocols in place traced those in close contact with the inmate, and a total of 12 prison staff were quarantined until they could be tested.
Ahner said that through these protocols, it has helped expedite responses to incidents such as this.
He noted that approximately 41 county employees have had to get tested during the pandemic, and the majority were negative.
One incident in the courthouse included a person testing positive and another case was determined after that person was already quarantined at home.
“I think everyone in our system is doing an excellent job,” Ahner said.
Other protocols the county has implemented include requiring employees who feel sick to stay home, report any issues to the HR department, wear masks in the buildings and limit the amount of public coming into the buildings.
