LANTA starts rebranding transit system in Carbon

Carbon County residents who use the county transit system are starting to see a change on the outside of the buses before they board.

That change is due to a new brand, as well as a few new services the company is rolling out this week.

LANTA recently started the rebranding process of the Carbon County Community Transit and now simplified it to be just Carbon Transit or CT for short. The rebranding, which includes the new look as well as new services, goes into effect on Monday.

“In conversations with stakeholders including riders, and the local Chamber of Commerce, we learned that CCCT was clumsy to say and was not a recognizable brand,” said LANTA Executive Director Owen P. O’Neil. “We also learned that many do not differentiate the different services offered by the system. So we gave each service a simple name that clearly identifies its role within Carbon Transit.”

Because of this, the simplified brand was created for ease for the users.

That means that the Lynx fixed route services are now CT Bus and will add connections to LANTABus services in Palmerton and STS services in Coaldale. The new Flex service is CT Flex and the shared rides are CT Shared Ride.

According to LANTA, CT Flex will provide reservation-based, curb-to-curb service with no qualifications needed and is available to all transit riders.

CT Shared Ride operates the same as a curb-to-curb service in Carbon with riders needing to qualify to use the service.

Both services must have at least a one-day advance reservation.

In July, LANTA increased the fare rates by 90 cents for shared ride services, but due to action by the commissioners, seniors who are sponsored through the program should not see the hike this year.

The board also announced the start of the rebranding of the service.

The Route 325 has been extended to Palmerton and offers connects to the Carbon County fixed route service, as well as provide access from Walnutport and Slatington to various medical offices in Palmerton.
