Carbon County court — drug-related cases
A total of seven defendants in pending drug-related cases entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted pleas from the following:
Michelle L. Hartman,
40, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of each of possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.
Hartman was arrested on July 10 by Lehighton police near Mallard Market on Second Street. Police responded to a report of an intoxicated female. On scene police found Hartman, who also had an active warrant for her arrest. Police indicated they found methamphetamine.
On the drug count, Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
On the summary offense of drunkenness she was fined $100.
Her plea was made via video from the county prison, where she is facing a probation violation petition.
Seth Michael Krynock,
24, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 17 by Summit Hill police following a traffic stop along Route 902.
His plea was via video from the county prison, where he is serving a probation violation sentence. Nanovic placed him on probation for a year, concurrent with his prison term, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
Leonard Jerome Cannaday II,
20, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Nov. 3, 2019, by Nesquehoning police at Route 209 and Market Street.
Nanovic imposed a fine of $100.
Michele A. Goodhile,
54, of Weissport, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on July 15, 2019, by Nesquehoning police along West High Street. Police were called to a domestic incident involving the defendant. She was then found with drug paraphernalia.
Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
Richard Roberts,
43, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on March 22 by state police at Lehighton along White Street in Weissport. Troopers responded to a domestic incident.
On scene troopers learned there was a warrant for Roberts and found the paraphernalia on him when taking him into custody.
Nanovic placed him on probation for a year, consecutive to a DUI sentence he is serving, and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance imposed on drug or alcohol use.
Brandon Frey,
20, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. He was arrested on Dec. 7, 2018, by Summit Hill police following a vehicle stop at Laurel Drive and White Bear Drive. He was originally placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.
Nanovic placed him on probation for a year, consecutive to a sentence he is currently serving. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
Mariah Lee Lewis,
27, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Lewis was arrested on March 30, 2019, when brought to the county prison on a warrant and found with paraphernalia.
Her plea was via video from the prison where she is serving a prison term in another case.
Nanovic placed her on probation for six months, consecutive to her current sentence, and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
DUI case
Hedy Anne Hinderliter,
53, of Horsham, Montgomery County, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence. She was arrested on March 14 by Lehighton police along Ninth Street. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.
She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300, make restitution of $964.07, court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and follow any recommendation of her drug and alcohol evaluation.
