Monroe driver in road-rage incident

A Monroe County driver was involved in a road-rage incident in Northampton County.

State police at Bethlehem said troopers were dispatched at 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 16 to the area of 57 E. Bullshead Road, in Allen Township, for a disturbance after a road rage incident between a motorcycle operator and the driver of a BMW vehicle.

Remington Batt, 22, of Effort, the cycle operator, told police that he was involved in a road rage incident with another driver. He said the two stopped on the side of the road and a physical altercation ensued. Batt said the other driver then left the area after briefly following him.

A short time later, troopers said, Thomas Riegel, 60, of Coplay, contacted troopers and said he was the other party involved in the incident with Batt. Riegel confirmed what Batt related, troopers said. Batt did not have any injuries in the physical confrontation while Riegel said he had minor injuries.

Batt and Riegel were each cited for harassment - physical contact, via non-traffic citations.
