Thanks for support of Lansford pool

Dear Editor:

We are submitting this letter as the officers of the Friends of Lansford Recreation in thanksgiving for the recent publicity given to our cause by your newspaper. The rehabilitation process has been a long one and we are finally seeing much progress being made thanks to the support of our community. As Mr. Frassinelli pointed out in his editorial, the history of the Lansford Swimming Pool is one filled with stories of great pride shared by the community of Lansford and the surrounding Panther Valley area towns. The legacy of the pool remains visible when we see the hard work of our volunteers selling chicken dinners and painting pavilions as we strive to bring back what will again be the “good old days” for valley residents.

As officers of our nonprofit organization, we are tasked with the work to raise both funding and morale as we see this revitalization come to fruition. Thanks to the support of the Lansford Borough Council, the pool expects to become, once again, an oasis for people of all ages by the summer of 2021.

Our resolve remains constant and we expect to continue our ventures to bring about additional improvements to that public recreational venue. The first soup sale of the season will be held on the grounds of the pool complex on Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. or when the soup is sold out from stock. Our volunteers remain devoted to our cause and hope that much support will be given to this upcoming fundraiser.

The local area is indeed special as it showcases the determination of our citizenry. As we enter the warmer months, may the promise of community rebirth and rejuvenation echo in our minds as we continue to support each other.

With sincerity,

Nathan Halenar, President; Jared Soto, Vice President; Yvonne Stoffey, Secretary; Gwen Collevechio, Treasurer
