The Horsehead Community Development Fund Inc. on Saturday presented a $10,000 grant to the Jim Thorpe Lions Club, which plans to use the funds as part of a $48,750 renovation project at the Asa Packer Mansion in the community.
Charles Campton, Horsehead official, said the donation pushes the amount of money distributed since 1990 by the firm past the $1 million mark.
George Hiller is the project overseer. Darrin Reinert, painting contractor from Jim Thorpe, was awarded the painting contract as part of a $48,750 project. Hiller said the mansion will be painted in the original colors of white and several shades of straw yellow.
