Prothonotary report
Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of July.
There were 471 cases started in July with the following breakdown: civil actions, 32; custody, 16; DJ appeal, 1; divorce, 24; license appeal, 4; mortgage foreclosures, 1; protection from abuse, 59; Replevin, 1; STIP/WAIV/LIENS, 8; judgments, 304; miscellaneous, 5; custody modifications, 12; and writs of execution, 4.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no passports were processed in July.
Total income generated was $32,113.47; prothonotary fees, $24,412.55 custody/divorce fees, $1,767.50; data processing fees, $5,557.50; interest income, $.72; PFA surcharge sheriff, $25; PFA surcharge courts, $28.70; and stenographer fees, $321.50.
In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $1,200, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $3,876.66; and automation fund $1,475, money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.
Credit defaults
The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.

Absolute Resolutions Investments, Horsham, filed an action against Reshard Mohammed, 163 Mountain Road, Albrightsville, seeking $6,361.42.
LVNV Funding, Horsham, filed an action against Rosemary Kath, 30 Nosirrah Road, Albrightsville, seeking $1,643.45.
Onemain Financial Group, Evansville, Indiana, filed an action against Marvin S. Miller II, 141 Maple Ave., Lehighton, seeking $3,879.24.
Unifund CCR, Blue Ash, Ohio, filed an action against Trans A. Eckhart, 240 Allen St., Lehighton, seeking $1,093.93.
Portfolio Recovery Associates, Norfolk, Virginia, filed an action against Scott Sanderson, 583 Old Stage Road, Albrightsville, seeking $7,336.51.
Cavalry SPV I, Valhalla, New York, filed an action against Allan B. Pulaski, 1206 Jefferson St., Lehighton, seeking $3,906.66.
Judgment entered
Urology Specialists of the Lehigh Valley, Box 90302, Allentown, entered a judgment against Brian D. and Roxanne Simmons, 249 S. First St., Lehighton, for $11,649.38 for services provided.
Loan default
First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union, 2752 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, filed a civil action against David J. Versuk, 191 Birch Drive, Lehighton, alleging he defaulted on a motor vehicle installment sale contract for the purchase of a 2018 Hyundai Elantra. Sought is $10,588.48 plus interest, costs and fees.
Bill owed
Rausch Creek Land, 978 Gap St., Valley View, filed a civil action against David Tirpak, dba, Tirpak Energy, 2 W. Mussmano Ave., Nesquehoning.
The suit states the plaintiff acquired the assets and accounts receivable of Kimmel’s Coal and Packaging Inc., in a bankruptcy action. The suit further states the defendant purchased coal from Kimmel and owes a bill of $3,237.50 for coal delivered. That amount is sought along with interest, costs and fees.

The Palmerton Community Ambulance Association, c/o Box 90301, Allentown, filed the following actions alleging the defendants owe a bill for services provided by the association.
