Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), will hold worship on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are four options of worshipping: Worship in sanctuary, must wear a mask, have temperature check, and social distancing required; worship in Leah’s Room with same rules as sanctuary and must keep mask on at all times as you watch the service on a huge screen; you may worship in your vehicle in the parking lot and tune to 104.3; or you may join on Facebook live. All services are led by Pastor Rob Timlin Sr.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is “Prayer & Praise” with the same options of worshipping.

September’s Mission is Samaritan’s Purse. It is a Nondenominational Evangelical Christian Organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurrying people around the world. For more information check out the church website. Please consider a gift to this wonderful organization.

The women’s group “Faith Believes” has resumed meeting. They will meet Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. and masks are required.

ABC Food Pantry is still serving the community. If you or someone you know has a need from the food pantry, please call Bev Hargreaves at 610-826-5932. They are also collecting aluminum tabs from cans to help the kids of Shriner’s Hospitals. Pease save the tabs and drop them off at the church.

Kids for the Community

Kids for the Community in Palmerton will be holding a tissue box drive through the month of September. All collected tissues will be divided up at the end of the month and handed out to different organizations in need throughout the community. For pick up please contact the group through Facebook or drop off at 783 W. Princeton Avenue, Palmerton. There will be a box on the porch for the donations.

Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship on Sunday in the sanctuary at 10:15 a.m. Please call the church office at 610-826-2524 if you plan to attend. You are asked to wear a mask and only enter through the main door. If you are unable to attend in person you may join on Zoom. The children’s special involvement in worship on the second Sunday is postponed until the children can participate safely.

On Sept. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Holy Trinity will resume a Bible study, beginning where they left off in the spring, with the Johannine Epistles.

Bell choir rehearsals will resume on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Please consider joining the group. They will rehearse distanced apart outdoors in the church’s front yard as long as weather permits throughout autumn. If the guidelines are still in place for indoor gatherings once the weather turns cold, rehearsals will continue inside and distanced throughout the pews. Mask wearing is not mandatory for outdoor rehearsals, however you have to wear a mask when Bell Choir rings during Sunday worship in church.

St. John’s Lutheran Church

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, continues to hold Sunday worship services outside in the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Please note the time remains the same. The service is led by Pastor Jody over an amplified sound system. The weekly bulletin can be found on St. John’s Facebook. All are invited to join the service.

Palmerton Library

Please visit the Palmerton Area Library’s website at www.palmertonarealibrary.com to learn how the library can support students as the school year starts. Although the library will not be holding in-person programs for the remainder of 2020, they will be offering some fun online and at-home activities for all age groups. Monthly “Grab and Go” bags will have take-home activities for all age groups. The library will also have story time, trivia and digital escape rooms featured on the Facebook page.

Collecting for Valor House

The Group Palmerton United will be collecting items for Valor House from now until the end of September. If anyone can donate, please do and drop off on porch of 777 Franklin Ave. Jonas/Valor House will receive the items. They are a veteran organization that houses vets in our area and helps homeless vets. Suggested items include canned fruit, meats and vegetables; peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce (plastic jars); rice, pop tarts, breakfast bars, canned meals, rice, etc. Also hygiene items such as deodorant (men and women), Q-tips, shampoo, conditioner and wipes. New, warm socks for winter would also be a good idea. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Jerusalem UCC

Come worship with members of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Trachsville, on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the church grove. The Rev. Jennika Borger will lead the service and provide an inspirational message. Please bring your lawn chairs and face masks. Social distancing is required. You can also remain in your car and listen to the service on 95.5 FM. The service will be live on Facebook and will also be recorded and available for viewing around 11 a.m. on the JUCC website. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the sanctuary. You can remain in your car for this service as well.
