Stephen Flyzik was appointed president of the Panther Creek Valley Foundation and Michael Krajcirik was named vice president when the organization met Sept. 6.

Other officers are David Zebian, secretary; Harry Murphy, treasurer; and Margaret Wakefield, membership secretary. The board of directors consists of Alex Maketa, Joseph Krajcirik, Joseph Serina and John Fauzio.

The foundation established the No. 9 Wash Shanty Anthracite Mining Museum in Lansford in 1989 and is rehabilitating the nearby former Lanscoal No. 9, to be opened as a tourist attraction. Fauzio is the mine superintendent and Greg Yurchak in the mine foreman.
