Sacred Heart news

Sacred Heart Parish, Lafayette Avenue, Palmerton, is continuing to offer its regular weekend Mass schedule: 5 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Allentown Diocesan directives during the current green phase of COVID-19. We ask all weekend worshippers to call the rectory office indicating Mass time and number attending with you. Daily Masses are celebrated Monday to Friday at noon. Sunday 9:30 a.m. Mass is livestreamed for those unable to attend.

The Sacrament of Confession continues to be offered by appointment only. To schedule, please call the Rectory Office at 610-826-2335. All other parish (including weekly bulletin) and diocesan news can be found at www.shcpalmerton.org.

This weekend’s Liturgy will be the Mass for the 23rd Week in Ordinary Time. The readings invite us not to harden our hearts, turn from our sins and love one another.

Monday we will celebrate a Mass to bless man’s labor, especially praying for all the many essential workers who have diligently continued to provide for us during this time of pandemic. All are invited to join us. Following Mass, the “Good Works Raffle” winners will be drawn. This is our first fundraiser of our fiscal year.

We are pleased to announce that Father Bill will confirm Matthew Michalik at the 5 p.m. Saturday Liturgy. Matt is a freshman at Palmerton Area High School. We extend to him our congratulations and prayerful best wishes.

This past Monday, St. John Neumann Regional School opened for the 2020-21 school year and we are pleased to announce an increase in student enrollment. Deacon Girard has notified all our parents of public school students of how we will move forward with religious instruction beginning Sept. 13 during the pandemic.

Father Bill continues to ask for prayers through the intercession of Father Walter Ciszek, that God will bless us with a cure for COVID-19 and restore the physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health to our global family.
