Two injured in crash in Mahoning Township

Two people were injured following a two-car crash Sunday morning in Mahoning Township.

Township police Chief Audie Mertz said the incident occurred at 11:03 a.m. at 820 Blakeslee Blvd Dr. W at the Tractor Supply.

Mertz said a 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross driven by Macke McCuen-Puterbaugh, 20, of Mountaintop, was traveling east while a 2010 Chevy Cobalt driven by Jocelyn Navarro, 21, of Nesquehoning, was going west when the Mitsubishi turned in front of the Cobalt and caused the crash.

He said there were a total of four people, two per vehicle, and injuries were sustained by the driver of the Mitsubishi, along with the passenger in the Cobalt.

Mertz said the driver of the Mitsubishi was transported by ambulance, while the passenger in the Cobalt refused treatment.

He said also assisting at the scene were the Mahoning Valley Fire Department, Mahoning Ambulance, and Lehighton Ambulance.

No charges have been filed, as the case remains open.

Mertz also reported a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the township Monday afternoon.

He said that incident took place at 4:04 p.m. when a 2009 Chevy Cobalt driven by Brandon Lusch, 19, of Tamaqua, was traveling north on Country Club Road when it went off the road and struck a utility pole.

Mertz said Lusch was not injured.

He said speed was a factor.

No charges have been filed, as the case remains open.
