A Schuylkill man was killed when his motorcycle and an all-terrain vehicle collided on a county roadway. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred on Sunday at 11:46 a.m. along Route 924, near School House Road, in East Union Township.

Troopers said Brian Galada, 37, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County, was operating a 2019 Polaris RZR four-wheeler southbound and attempted to turn left from the westbound shoulder crossing both north and southbound lanes in order to enter a wooded trail. Ivan A. Acevedo Vega, 28, of Sheppton, operating a 2019 Yamaha R6 motorcycle, was southbound and his bike impacted the driver side door of the ATV.

Upon impact Vega was ejected from the bike and fatality injured, troopers said. He was not wearing a helmet, troopers noted. Galada was not wearing a helmet and sustained a head injury. He was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus. His passenger, Erica M. Galada, 39, same address, was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Galada was cited for careless driving.
