Colonial League releases new football schedule

The Colonial League announced its updated football schedule on Friday, a decision that was unanimously supported by all member schools.

“We would like to particularly thank the members of the Schuylkill League for their support in the decision to delay the Schuylkill League/Colonial League Football Scheduling Cooperative until Fall 2021,” read a statement from Northwestern Athletic Director and Colonial League Football Chairman Jason Zimmerman.

“We would also like to thank all Colonial League Member Schools, our coaches, our players, our fans, our Football Official Assignor, Glenn Rissmiller, and the local media for their patience and understanding as we worked through the development of this schedule.

The 2020 football schedules for Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh and Palmerton are listed below:

• Northern Lehigh - Palisades (Sept. 25); Southern Lehigh (Oct. 2); at Wilson (Oct. 10); at Pen Argyl (Oct. 17); Salisbury (Oct. 23); at Palmerton (Oct. 30).

• Northwestern - at Bangor (Sept. 25); Wilson (Oct. 2); at Palmerton (Oct. 9); at Salisbury (Oct. 16); Saucon Valley (Oct. 23); at Catasauqua (Oct. 30).

• Palmerton - Catasauqua (Sept. 25); at Notre Dame Green Pond (Oct. 2); Northwestern (Oct. 9); at Saucon Valley (Oct. 16); at Palisades (Oct. 23); Northern Lehigh (Oct. 30).

“Some Colonial League Schools may opt to play “independent” PIAA contests as early as September 11, 2020 and they will communicate those schedules respectively once details are available,” the statement continued. “As always, the status of individual contests are subject to change based on the many variables local school districts are experiencing and processing at any given time. The Colonial League supports and respects all of our member schools as they navigate these unprecedented, challenging times providing our students with the best possible education and opportunity to participate in athletics and extra curricular activities while managing it in the safest way possible.”
