A Lehigh County man was sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court to a time-served sentence on an indecent assault charge, to which he previously pleaded guilty.
Kristian A. Carwell, 20, of Germansville, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to time-served, (141 days) to 23 months in prison.
On two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia to which he also previously pleaded guilty, he was sentenced to serve 13 days (with credit for time-served) on the first count, and on the second count, one year probation, concurrent with the other charges.
He was arrested on the indecent assault charge for an incident on Nov. 18, 2019, filed by Palmerton police.
In exchange for the plea, the district attorney’s office agreed to drop felony counts of aggravated indecent assault (two counts) and sexual assault and another misdemeanor count of indecent assault.
Police said the assault occurred in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue in the borough park, in a portable toilet.
The drug incidents occurred on Aug. 5, 2019, filed by Lehighton police. He has been an inmate in the county prison since his arrest on the assault charge.
He was also ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, undergo a sexual offenders evaluation and follow any recommendations, register as a sexual offender for 15 years, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation.
