Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors took the following action during a meeting Tuesday night:

• Authorized the administration to work with PFM Financial Advisors LLC as independent financial adviser; Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott LLC as bond counsel; Boenning and Scattergood as underwriter and its local solicitor in conjunction with the potential refinancing of some or all of its Series of 2015 Note and Series A of 2015 Bonds.

• Approved Cheryl Hummer as a substitute teacher.

• Approved Erika Katona as a substitute instructional assistant.

• Accepted the retirement of Mary Meinhart, instructional assistant, effective at the end of the 2019-20 school year.

• Accepted the retirement of Kevin Kolodziejski, junior high language arts teacher, effective at the end of the 2019-20 school year.

• Hired Jacqueline McCandless as confidential superintendent secretary, effective Aug. 24 at a salary of $43,000.

• Hired Timothy Kleintop as health room technician at Towamensing Elementary School, effective Aug. 24 at a rate of $16.94 an hour.

• Approved the 2020-21 student athletic handbook.

• Approved the 2020-21 coaches handbook.

• Approved the contract with Bayada Nursing for the 2020-21 school year.

• Approved the first reading of a policy on Title IX harassment.

• Approved the second reading of a policy on Title I parent and family engagement.
