A Jim Thorpe man was arrested on drug dealing charges when officers of the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General in Allentown, and the Jim Thorpe Police Department executed a search warrant at his residence at 12:03 p.m. Aug. 15.
William D. Hawk Jr., of Summit Drive, is facing charges of manufacture, delivery or intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton. Bail was set at $5,000, unsecured, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sept. 2 before Magisterial District Judge Eric Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
Authorities said during the search, agents/officers located 10 small pink transparent plastic bags, each containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, and a clear plastic bag containing a large amount (approximate 10-gram chunk) of suspected crystal methamphetamine from a locked safe in Hawk’s master bedroom at the home. Also found were plastic bags and a digital scale which are items commonly used t prepare and package methamphetamine for sale. Several long rifles were also found within the residence, police said.
Police said prior to the search, Hawk was seen leaving the residence and was detained a few blocks from his residence, and was arraigned later in the day.
