State police at Hazleton report on incidents

State police at Hazleton report on the following incidents:

• A Carbon County man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a relative.

Police said on Sunday at 11:13 p.m., an 18-year-old from Broad Street, Beaver Meadows, arrived at the barracks to report he had been assaulted by a relative, Jeffrey Tutko-Genery, 25, at their residence.

The victim said he and Tutko-Genery had engaged in an argument, which turned physical.

During the fight the victim said his brother placed him in a chokehold to the point he could not breathe. The victim then attempted to leave the residence when Tutko-Genery struck him on the right side of the face with a closed fist, causing an abrasion on his forehead as well as a broken nose.

Troopers responded to the home and took Jeffrey Tutko-Genery into custody on charges of strangulation and related offenses.

• Troopers also reported the arrest of a Schuylkill County man for an incident in Luzerne County.

Troopers said on Aug. 11 at 1:42 a.m. they were dispatched to the Red Rooster Motel, located at 1348 Hardwood Road, in Hazle Township, for a welfare check.

Troopers discovered that the involved vehicle, a 2008 Ford Fusion, was reported stolen and was in the possession of Michael Cray, 35, of Sheppton. Inside the vehicle troopers found suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Cray was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property and related offenses.

• Joseph Bjorn, 29, of McAdoo, was charged with criminal mischief, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after an incident at 8:35 p.m. Aug. 8 on Breaker Street in Hazle Township.

The victim told police Bjorn was acting in a disorderly manner, kicking a door at the residence. Police said he was asked to leave the premises and did so without incident.
