Hoffner graduates from Lafayette

Jacob Hoffner of Lehighton has graduated in the Class of 2020 from Lafayette College in Easton.

He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in architectural studies. Jacob is a 2016 graduate of Lehighton Area High School, son of Brian and Linda Hoffner, and grandson of Dolores Cunfer, also of Lehighton.

While attending college, he participated in many activities. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and Alpha Phi Omega fraternities, the latter of which is a service fraternity.

He was a member of the Lafayette Leopards Pep Band for two years and participated in the ski club. Jacob was a member of LEAP, Lafayette Environmental Awareness and Protection club, a Lafayette Admissions Ambassador for incoming students, and a STEM initiative tutor to children in the city of Easton.

He was also very active in recycling programs, and initiated both the “Sustainability Punch Card Program” and “Pard Paper” recycling program, which will continue beyond his graduation.

He plans to continue advising and helping to maintain these programs.

For these and other achievements Jacob received an “Unsung Hero” (Hoff) award named for Aaron Hoff, an early and highly recognized student at Lafayette.

Jacob is beginning his career at a firm in the Lehigh Valley as a mechanical and field engineer.
