Fern Ridge state police report Monroe crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes in Monroe County:

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:13 a.m. on July 18 along Evergreen Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said a 16-year-old male from Saylorsburg was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer eastbound when his vehicle struck the rear of a 1996 Mazda B2500 operated by Michael P. McKeon, 71, of Effort. The Ford rolled about 20 feet east into the westbound lane where it came to rest.

McKeon was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Monroe Campus by West End ambulance. The teen was not injured.

Troopers cited the teen for following too closely.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:34 a.m. on July 31 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Charles M. Owens, 35, of East Stroudsburg, was driving a 1995 Mack truck northbound and too fast for conditions when he lost control around a right hand curve. The truck hit a telephone pole and several parked cars belonging to US 209 Auto Sales. Owens refused medical treatment.

The truck was towed. Owens was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.

• Troopers investigated a hit-and-run crash that occurred in the parking lot of Argot’s Hardware, located off Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers a unoccupied 2020 Hyundai Tucson was legally parked when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene. The incident was reported on July 31 at 9:07 a.m.

• Ryan T. Henry, 19, of Stroudsburg, was cited after a crash at 7:42 p.m. July 14 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo north on Route. 715 when he pulled onto the shoulder of the road and began to travel back into the northbound lane while attempting to turn left to travel south. Police said the vehicle struck another northbound vehicle, a 2016 Subaru Outback driven by Mark A. McLean, 54, of Saylorsburg, and then left the scene.

Police said Henry was identified because McLean was able to obtain the registration number on the Rodeo.

• Police said no one was hurt but two vehicles were damaged in a crash at 3:57 p.m. July 15 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a 2019 Subaru Outback driven by Agnes G. Guyders, 76, of Kresgeville, and a 2013 Ford Fusion operated by Katey Kabu-Kubi, 44, of Henryville, were both southbound on Route 209. Police said the vehicle driven by Kabu-Kubi approached stopped traffic when the Outback struck a wall on the right side of the road and then hit the left side of the Fusion.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 9:28 p.m. June 28 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said it happened when a 1994 Acura Integra operated by Gary Kauffman, 36, of Kresgeville, failed to stop for a vehicle in front of him and the Integra struck the rear of a 2014 Audi A4 operated by Nicholas H. Snyder, 30, of Kunkletown. The latter was southbound on Route. 209 and had stopped for a red light at the intersection with Erin Lane.

Police said Kauffman fled the scene without checking for injuries or exchanging information and failed to report the incident to police. They said paint samples were left on both vehicles.

• Police said a 2003 Honda Civic needed to be towed from the scene of a hit-and-run incident at 6:27 a.m. July 6 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said an unidentified vehicle was eastbound on the interstate when the driver changed from the right lane to the passing lane, striking the Civic with its trailing unit. The vehicle causing the damages fled the scene.

The Civic was driven by Wardell D. Kemp, 42, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, who was not injured.
