The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Carlos Correa, 32, of Shenandoah, was sentenced on July 23, by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani to 30 months’ imprisonment for his participation in a heroin trafficking conspiracy in Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.

According to United States Attorney David J. Freed, Correa previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin, which is equivalent to more than 4,000 retail bags of heroin. The drug conspiracy operated in the Shenandoah area of Schuylkill County and the Hazleton area of Luzerne County during 2012 through 2015.

The matter was investigated by the FBI, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Shenandoah Police. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Francis P. Sempa prosecuted the case.
