A look back: Aug. 4, 1982

Ground was broken on Sunday for a new parsonage to be built at Salem Bible Fellowship Church, Lehighton R.1. The parsonage will be constructed about 80 yards from the church, which is located off Route 443 about one-fourth of a mile west of the Carbon Plaza.

About 100 people attended the program. The first shovels of dirt were overturned by Clair Greenzweig, chairman of the committee at the church, and Curtis Bailey of New Ringgold, the building contractor.

The current parsonage located at 137 N. Fourth St. in Lehighton, is being listed for sale, according to the Rev. Larry Carpenter, pastor of the church.
