Fern Ridge incidents

State police at Fern Ridge reported on recent incidents:

• On July 5 at 1:45 a.m. troopers made a vehicle stop in the 400 block of Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County, for vehicle code violation. The driver, Janiece Melendez, 45, of Tobyhanna, was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody and transported to the county DUI center for a blood draw. Charges are pending.

• Also on July 5, at 4:52 p.m., a traffic stop was made at Route 115 and Timothy Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, for a motor vehicle code violation. Upon further investigation, criminal activity indicators were present and a consent search of the vehicle was requested but denied by the driver, Allan Moss, 32, of Effort. A state police K-9 unit was called to the scene.

A probable cause search was conducted after an alert by the K-9 and 54 white glassine bags of suspected heroin were found within the front driver side door pocket.

Moss was taken into custody and charged with drug counts. He was later released.

• On June 24 at 2:17 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop at Route 940 and Moseywood Road in Kidder Township, Carbon County, for a motor vehicle code violation. The driver, Wayne Groff, 30, of Albrightsville, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for DUI. Charges have been filed.

• On July 11 at 5:16 p.m. troopers received calls concerning an erratic driver eastbound on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle in question and made a vehicle stop. The driver, Jasmeen Habbal, 35, of Denver, Colorado, was found to be under the influence and taken to the county DUI center. Charges are pending test results.

• On July 12 at 3 a.m. a verbal domestic incident occurred at a residence along Jennifer Lane, in Chestnuthill Township. The verbal argument escalated to physical when a 54-year-old man from Effort, who troopers declined to identify, grabbed and pushed a 19-year-old woman from Effort. The suspect was charged with harassment - physical contact.

• On July 13 at 10:19 a.m. troopers were dispatched to 95 Cummings Lane, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, for a report of a domestic altercation. As a result the two participants, a 41-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, both from Albrightsville, and who troopers declined to identify, were charged with harassment - physical contact.

• Police are investigating a criminal mischief incident that they were called to on June 30 at the intersection of Weir Creek Drive and Rodenbach Lane in Chestnuthill Township.

The resident reported someone placed a broken egg inside her mailbox between 6 p.m. June 29 and 9:40 a.m. June 30.

• Shaine Kadyorios, 51, of Effort, is facing criminal mischief charges after police were summoned to an incident at 10:57 p.m. July 5 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they were dispatched to 3222 Route 115 where it is alleged Kadyorios climbed onto a 2015 Mercury owned by a 72-year-old woman from Utica, New York, damaging its hood.

The estimated damages are $800.
