Palmerton is looking through security camera footage to find out more about vandalism that took place at the park’s bandstand recently.

Donna McGarry, manager, said she’s not sure when the incident took place, which is why Barry Scherer, the borough’s public works supervisor, is scouring the footage. McGarry said spokes were kicked out of the bandstand.

The camera was placed at the park’s bandstand a few years ago. McGarry said the borough is also looking into placing an updated camera system throughout the entire park.

Detective Kevin Buck of the Palmerton Police Department said that while he could not count the number of vandalism reports made about the bandstand off the top of his head, it’s been defaced several times - even more so “over the last couple of weeks.”
