A look back: Aug. 1, 1992

Residents of the Edgemont Lodge, Lansford, bid a fond farewell to the reproduction of the 4-ton mine car this week, just before Dave and Jay Faenza of Faenza’s Auto Body, Summit Hill, removed it from the lodge to take it to the Panther Creek Anthracite Miner’s Museum on Dock Street in Lansford.

The Davis family, owned of Edgemont, agreed to donate the car, built in 1976 for Lansford’s Centennial celebration, to the No. 9 Wash Shanty museum after they decided to put a gazebo in its place on the lawn of the home.

Edgemont, once owned by the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company, was used by top company officials at one time.
