Minimal damage was done to a meat market in Mahoning Township after a smokehouse caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Mahoning Valley Assistant Fire Chief Jay Michalik said the fire broke out around 1:45 p.m. at Heintzelman’s Meat Market.

Michalik said the fire extended from the smokehouse to the back rear of the building.

No workers or firefighters were injured during the incident.

Firefighters were on scene for over an hour.

Also assisting at the scene was the Lehighton Fire Department.

“There was great collaboration between the Mahoning Valley Fire Department and Lehighton Fire Department,” Michalik said. “We got it out quickly with minimal damage.”
