Lehighton State Police report on DUI, drug cases

State police at Lehighton report on the following incidents:

• A traffic stop made by police at 1:10 a.m. July 27 at the intersection of Interchange Road and Horseshoe Drive in Polk Township resulted in the driver found to be driving under the influence of marijuana.

Police said the woman was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. After stopping the 2005 Ford Focus, police said, she refused chemical testing to further determine the extent of her impaired status. Police said she will be charged accordingly. Her name was not released.

• Police said a man was in possession of marijuana at 1:48 p.m. July 25 at Beltzville State Park.

A trooper said he was on foot patrol in the Wild Creek Trail area along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township when he came upon the man in the creek.

Another man was found to be in possession of marijuana at 3:44 p.m. July 26 in the area of Deer Lane and Pohopoco Drive. Police said an officer was conducting traffic and parking enforcement at the park when he came upon the man in a 2007 Nissan Murano in the dirt parking area.

The driver of a vehicle stopped at 8:10 p.m. July 25 in Towamensing Township is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Police said the stop was a result of a traffic violation in the 3900 block of Pohopoco Drive.

None of the names were released.

• Kidanny Colon-Perez, 29, of the Bronx, New York, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 10:09 a.m. July 26 at the intersection of Pohopoco Drive and Trachsville Hill Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said they stopped him while driving a 2009 Honda Accord for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Police observed indicators of impairment. A search of the vehicle turned up a glass jar containing marijuana in it.

• A 62-year-old Lehighton man was determined to be hallucinating due to being highly under the influence of methamphetamine is facing charges is facing various charges.

Police said they were called to Mauch Chunk Street in Mahoning Township at 4:17 a.m. July 25 when the resident said the man was yelling and screaming while trespassing there. The man broke a window of the residence.

He has been charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Police did not release his name.
