Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company has canceled bingo until further notice, along with its giant yard sale.
However, the fire company will once again provide takeout platters on Aug. 7, according to Chris Lilly, president, Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary.
Lilly said patrons have a choice of baked ham or haddock (poorman’s lobster) as well as macaroni & cheese or filling with gravy, green beans, bread and butter and pepper cabbage.
She said the order deadline is Aug. 5 or until sold out, and the platters are to be ordered in advance and picked up as patrons drive thru the parking lot between 4-6:30 p.m.
To place an order, call 610-377-0755, or 570-778-9229, and leave a phone number in voicemail or on the answering machine. Do not leave orders.
Additionally, the giant yard sale previously scheduled for Aug. 14-16 has been canceled, according to Diane Highland, yard sale chairwoman.
“Although many people have told us they’ve been sorting and cleaning since spring and they could make huge donations, they will need to hold on to their items a bit longer,” Highland said.
Lilly said last month the fire company sold takeout dinners with sellouts of over 300 each day, as well as a pizza sale in which nearly 600 unbaked pies were sold.
