State police report on Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:30 p.m. on July 18 along Route 61 at the intersection with Market Street, in Dear Lake. Troopers said Rick W. Kaufman, 67, of Fleetwood, Berks County, was southbound in a 2017 Slingshot motorcycle while Suzanne L. Billman, 68, of Orwigsburg, was approaching Route 61 on Market Street when the traffic signal turned red. Kaufman could not see the red light due to the position of the sun. Billman pulled out onto 61 when her vehicle was struck by Kaufman’s.
Kaufman and his passenger, a 17-year-old male from Fleetwood, and Billman all sustained minor injuries and were transported to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. Both vehicles were towed.
Kaufman was cited for traffic light violation.
• A crash was reported at 1:12 a.m. on July 24 along Washington Street, at Main Street, in Port Carbon. Troopers said Victoria B. Donovan, 18, of Shenandoah, was driving a 2010 Kia Optima westbound when she lost control of the vehicle while attempting to negotiate a right curve. The Optima left the road and struck a utility pole along the berm, then continued on into a street sign. As the street sign was falling it struck a legally parked 2015 Toyota Highlander causing minor damages.
No one was injured. Donovan was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A Bucks County truck driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:02 p.m. on July 7 along Wilder Street in Cressona.
Troopers said Hamit Yeysides, 62, of Langhorne, was driving a 2015 Freightliner truck tractor with trailer southbound and had exited a parking lot at the Blue Mountain Elementary School and made a right turn onto Wilder Street. During the turn, the right side of the trailer struck two parking posts, a utility pole and street sign. Yeysides then fled the scene going south on Chestnut Street. He was later located.
No injuries were reported. Yeysides was cited for the crash.
