Man injures hand when gun jams

State police at Frackville reported investigating an accidental shooting incident in Schuylkill County.

Troopers said a 31-year-old man from Pottsville was target shooting on July 21 about 7:30 p.m. along the Burma Road in Blythe Township, when his Taurus 357 Sig Sauer malfunctioned. He attempted to clear the jam when the gun discharged. He sustained a superficial gunshot wound to his left hand.

The victim drove himself to the St. Luke’s Geisinger Hospital-Orwigsburg, where he was treated and released. Troopers declined to identify the victim.
