Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano senior citizens met July 14 at Christ Church, Barnesville, with 41 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with a reading from the president titled “Dear Friend.” A moment of silence was observed for Ann Mae Yuchinsky. Betty Bablo was added to the sick list.

Birthdays celebrated in April, May, June and July are as follows: Gloria, Gerhard, Bill Morrison, Diane Gould, Lorraine Lupcho, Nancy Godanis, Pat Fredericks, Gladys Arner, Joan Brown, Sherry Herb, Lucille Spaar, Cindy Godanis, Elaine Truskey, Jayne McLaughlin.

There will be no trips scheduled on the STS bus until next year, and the trip to Penn’s Peak has been canceled. The annual summer picnic is scheduled for Aug. 11 at St. Peter’s Grove, Locust Valley at noon. Catering will be provided by Hess, Schuylkill Haven. A basket raffle will be held.

Election of new officers starting in August: President, Gloria Gerhard; vice president, Cindy Godanis; secretary, Ruthann Feane; treasurer, Nancy Eisley.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at Christ Church, Barnesville. Anyone 55 or older is welcome.

Community dinner

Trinity UCC, 22 Lafayette St. will hold a takeout meatloaf dinner on July 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Individual meatloaf must be preordered. Call 570-516-6146.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church. Doors open at 9 a.m. and everyone is required to wear a mask. Call 570-668-4570 for more information.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will offer the message at the 10:25 a.m. Sunday service, held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua. For those who prefer staying in the car, the FM station will be available for listening or bring your lawn chair to sit outside.

No Sunday evening service this Sunday. July 22 at 7 p.m. is Wednesday evening prayer service. Call 570-668-9111 for more information.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. The sermon will also be recorded live on Facebook.

The Valley Christian Preschool will hold moving up and graduation ceremonies on Monday and Tuesday evenings, July 20 and 21.

The events will be drive-thru in the back of the preschool. The 3-year-old classes will be honored on Monday, and the 4-year-old classes on Tuesday.
