State police at Frackville release details of crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:59 a.m. on July 5 along the Burma Road in Blythe Township. Troopers said Jeffrey M. Drum, 21, of New Philadelphia, was driving a 2012 Ford F350 truck southbound when he swerved to avoid a deer on the road while going around a right hand curve.

Drum lost control of the truck which left the road going onto the east berm and striking an embankment.

The truck continued on another 100 yards through a wooded area before coming to rest against multiple trees.

Drum and his two passengers, Tyler J. Vandermartin, 22, of Pottsville, and Kayla Davies, 21, of New Philadelphia, were injured but were treated at the scene. The truck had to be towed.

Drum was cited for the crash.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on July 5 at 6:32 a.m. along Summer Valley Road (Route 895) in East Brunswick Township. A 17-year-old male from Douglassville, Berks County, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima westbound when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the road and hit a road sign, then crossed into the eastbound lane and onto the south side where it struck a brick wall/fence and came to rest.

The teen was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

The teen was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:16 p.m. on June 30 along Lakeside Avenue in Delano Township. Robert F. Koch, 90, of Hellertown, Northampton County, was northbound driving a 2019 Chevrolet Impala and traveled across a “T” intersection with Hazle Street. The Impala struck a utility pole with its front end.

Troopers said Koch had a medical emergency causing him to be confused and disoriented.

Koch was flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. His passenger, Helen M. Mindock, 90, also of Hellertown, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale, for a suspected minor injury. The vehicle was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:34 p.m. on July 3 along Interstate 81 in Porter Township.

Stephen Sebacius, 69, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 2006 Ford Explorer northbound when the vehicle traveled into the median and rolled over, striking a tree.

Sebacius and his passenger, a 17-year-old female also from Mount Carmel, were both taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital South, Pottsville, for suspected minor injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.

Sebacius was cited for the crash.

• Troopers said a two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:38 p.m. on July 3 along Barnesville Drive in Ryan Township. Drivers involved were identified as Joshua L. Derk, 30, of Ashland, driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, with passenger, Billi Jo M. Yemm, 20, of Mahanoy City, and Kathryn H. Galinsky, 86, of Mahanoy City, driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima.

Troopers did not release any details of the crash.
