Programs offered at state Parks

Locust Lake

Tuscarora State Park volunteer Tom Powers will present a program on the native reptiles and amphibians of Pennsylvania at the Locust Lake Amphitheatre at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

He will talk about the habitat and diet of the animals. Some live animals will be on hand.

The program will be held “shine only” and registration will be required upon arrival. There is limited space available for show attendees.

Beltzville State Park

Come enjoy an easygoing Saturday morning 2.0 to 2.5 mile hike led by park naturalist Rob Bergstresser, on the Christman Trail at Beltzville State Park. The hike will begin at 9 a.m.

This trail meanders through an old orchard and is surrounded by forested areas.

The group will take a short detour along the way to take in the views of the beautiful waterfalls at Wild Creek.

Sturdy walking/hiking shoes are recommended. Please bring water, a snack, sunscreen, and bug spray. Rain will postpone the hike.

Preregistration is required and limited to 15 participants. Meet at the Christman Trailhead on Pohopoco Drive; the trailhead parking lot is approximately 3.5 miles east of the park’s main entrance.

Please note, due to the pandemic, program participants must bring a face covering or mask with them and have it in their possession during the program in case it’s needed when social distancing cannot be maintained, you need to go indoors where masks are required, etc.
