Palmerton news for July 2, 2020

Historical society

Palmerton Area Historical Society will be presenting its July monthly program at 7 p.m. July 13 in the Palmerton Borough Park. The program will be the History and Demonstration of the High Wheel Bicycle by Donald Serfass. Please bring a lawn chair for social distancing and masks are preferred. Rain date is July 20.

Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Bowmanstown, is now holding one combined service each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are three options of worshipping. Worship in the sanctuary, must wear a mask, have temperature check and social distancing required; you may worship in the parking lot and tune to 104.3; or you may join on Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is “Prayer & Praise Service” with the same three options as Sunday worship.

Bible school this year will be Virtual VBS and will be July 6-10. Craft kits are available. All interested parents, please contact Sue Moyer, VBS coordinator at 610-852-2381.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship on July 5 at 10:15 a.m. They will open the church for worship with limitations. The limited capacity of the sanctuary is approximately 40 people. If you wish to attend, please call the church office at 610-826-2524 early in the week so the number attending can be noted. You may be told to wait a week if the capacity is filled. If you are not able to come in person, you may join on Zoom. You are asked to wear a mask. If you do not have one they will have some available. You may only enter through the main door. Holy Communion will be observed in a different manner.

Carbon Model Railroad

Carbon Model Railroad Society will not be holding its Christmas in July Open House this year due to the COVID-19 virus.

Jerusalem UCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold worship in the grove at 9 a.m. July 5. Everyone, please bring your lawn chairs. Social distancing and masks will be required. The service will be recorded and will be available for viewing on the Jerusalem UCC website for those who do not wish to attend the service.

Summer Concert in the Park

Join together at the Bandstand in the Palmerton Borough Park with the Palmerton Community Band at 7 p.m. on July 5. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Please follow all COVID-19 guidelines including wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer and maintaining a social distance of 6 feet. In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled.

Zinc City Motorcycle Club

The club will be canceling the rest of the drag races for this season due to COVID-19. They will have the Carnival Run on July 19.
