State police report on drug charges

State police at the Lehighton barracks report the following incidents:

• Police said the driver of a vehicle and a passenger are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of a response by an officer to an incident at 7:10 p.m. June 22 at Route 115 and Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they were summoned to investigate a possible unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. When the officer arrived at the scene, it was determined the vehicle was being lawfully used, however, the driver and passenger were found in possession of the contraband.

• Police charged a 38-year-old Kutztown man on charges of suspicious of driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop they made at noon June 23. Police said the stop was made when the driver of a 2004 Ford committed a traffic violation.
