The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau is celebrating the summer season a bit early with the full-time reopening of two of its visitors centers. The PMVB is pleased to announce the Jim Thorpe Visitors Center reopens today, while the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center reopens Monday.

Both locations will be fully staffed seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facilities provide informational resources and restroom access for guests visiting the Pocono Mountains. The PMVB is taking the following steps to ensure the safety of staff and visitors: wiping down high-touch surfaces and restrooms at least every hour, monitoring the number of people inside the building, displaying signage to promote social distancing, requiring face masks while inside the building, and providing hand sanitizer.

The Jim Thorpe and Lake Wallenpaupack visitors centers have been open in limited capacity since Memorial Day weekend to provide restroom access for visitors. The Lake Wallenpaupack location will continue offering that service this weekend, until fully reopening on Monday.

“As our counties go green, we anticipate visitors will be returning to the Pocono Mountains,” said Chris Barrett, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau President/CEO. “The PMVB is here to support guests as well as businesses as they begin navigating this new normal.”

While visiting the Pocono Mountains, you may see special “Pocono Promise” door signs and flyers on display at various establishments. So far, more than 265 businesses of all shapes and sizes have signed the Pocono Promise, vowing to follow specific safety protocols to protect residents, employees, and customers as we begin the COVID-19 recovery period.

In addition to the Jim Thorpe and Lake Wallenpaupack locations, the PMVB also runs visitors centers in Stroudsburg, Milford and Honesdale.
