Baer Memorial Swimming Pool adds green frog slide through community funds

A new piece of equipment will soon greet children who come out for a swim at Baer Memorial Swimming Pool in Lehighton.

That would be in the form of a green frog slide, for a which a total of $15,000 was received, according to borough recreation director Tom Evans.

Of that, $10,000 came from Community Development Block Grant funds, while the other $5,000 came from Linda Guy and her companion Rich Breidegam of Lehighton.

“Tom is such a good guy; he keeps the pool in tiptop shape,” Guy said. “We knew the kids would love it.”

Evans expressed his thanks to the couple for their continued support of the pool.

“I’d like to thank Linda and Richard for their generous donation,” Evans said. “They’ve been generous over the years, but this was really the topper, and it’s nice seeing people giving back to the community.”

The pool opens Saturday.
