Website posting nets trespassing complaint

A posting on social media implying someone trespassed on an Effort man’s commercial property back in April, 2019, resulted in state police at the Fern Ridge barracks being summoned to probe a simple trespass incident.

But police said no charges were filed against the suspect because of the length of time that passed since the date of the incident.

On May 28 at 11:32 a.m., police were called to the Big Brown Fish Hatchery and Play Lakes, 2668 Route 115, Chestnuthill Township, where the owner related a photo located on a social media website showed a suspect trespassing in the area of the hatchery on the property.

In the photo, the suspect could be seen holding a large fish which had apparently been caught at the location. Police said there are posted signs on the property warning against trespassers.

Police said they contacted the suspect and a warning was issued. Police said the suspect denied having taken the fish and claimed to have released it back into the water.
