Weissport gets quotes for security cameras

Weissport has received quotes from camera installation company SDI, regarding two possible options for cameras in the park.

The first quote was for $190 and would entail a current camera to be relocated simply requiring a pole switch to move the camera from one pole to another in the park so that more coverage can be viewed.

The second option is to install an additional camera in the park that would provide optimal, wide angle, high definition coverage, and provide excellent recording capabilities that would cost the borough $824. Council has yet to make a final decision on which option they will choose.

In March, Council discussed upgrading the quality of the borough’s camera technology in the park by upgrading its software to a higher resolution that also features security footage playback for up to 90 days.

The heightened playback quality may potentially assist in identifying vandals in the future, but hopefully deter property damage crimes overall.

Weissport is looking for a part-time borough worker to perform general maintenance duties.

Interested people may submit a letter of interest to 440 Allen St. either by mail or hand delivery. Any questions regarding specific duties may be addressed by calling the borough at 610-377-5606.

Since Weissport‘s road crews got back to work, it was reported that the potholes on Railway Alley have been filled in and repaired.

Additional upcoming roadwork is planned for the borough.
