State police at Fern Ridge report on crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6 a.m. on Tuesday along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Maximo C. Perez, 45, of Hazleton, was driving a 2019 Ford Escape eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He struck the deer, causing damages which required the vehicle to be towed. Perez was not injured.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 4:57 p.m. on May 26 at the intersection of Weir Lake Road and Willow Lane, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Michael E. Smith, 49, of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze southbound on Willow Lane while William J. Mingle, 48, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado truck was southbound on Weir Lake Road. Troopers said Smith failed to yield at the intersection as he turned onto Weir Lake Road and struck the rear driver side of the Silverado.

No one was injured. Troopers cited Smith for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:06 p.m. on May 27 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Dimitre R. Richards, 30, of Saint Albans, New York, was westbound in the left lane and Cynthia J. Wang, 42, of Boston, Massachusetts, was in the right lane. Richards was in the process of overtaking Wang when he entered the right lane and struck Wang’s 2005 Toyota Prius with his 2010 Toyota Corolla. After impact the Corolla struck the guide rail along the berm.

No one was injured. Richards was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6:57 a.m. on May 29 along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Beata Wisniewska, 61, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester northbound when her vehicle struck a deer that had entered the road in front of her. Wisniewska suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. The Subaru was towed.

• A crash was reported at about midnight on May 30 along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough, Carbon County. Kylah L. Winder, 21, of Williamsport, was driving a 2002 Honda CRV eastbound and going too fast for conditions on the rain-covered road. The CRV sideswiped a construction sign on the left shoulder causing Winder to lose control. The vehicle crossed the road and hit a ditch along the berm.

Winder was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.
