Former Lehighton restaurant/brewery for sale

A former microbrewery in Lehighton is on the market.

The former Red Castle Brewery at 80 E Bridge St., is for sale at the listed price of $474,900.

Kathy Henderson, director of economic development for the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corp., said she believes the building is at a great location being right on the D&L Trail.

“It has so much potential for the right person,” Henderson said. “It would be great if another nice little microbrewery could come in.”

Carbon County’s only microbrewery at the time when it closed in February 2018, the building was at one time a favorite spot for tourists and locals.

The business was owned by Frank Potoczak, who had the building for nearly nine years.

Initially it served as a restaurant that specialized in Polish cuisine, which Henderson said was a real treat.

“I loved the food there,” she said. “It was awesome.”

In 2015, the business was remodeled and a microbrewery, distillery and outdoor seating were added.

Henderson said in her opinion, whoever buys the building should look to bring in “something that’s unique, different.”

“We have pizza places, Chinese restaurants; we need something a little bit different,” she said. “Something that’s going to appeal to not just tourists and visitors, but to your residents because in the offseason, that’s going to be your base customer and that’s who you’re going to have to be after to do well.”

Henderson noted that the building also has outside dining on its premises.

“Thousands of cars go by every day, it has good visibility,” she said. “It’s an awesome opportunity for the right person.”
