Tamaqua man gave false details to police

Uzair Jasim Wycel Williams, 21, of Grier Avenue, Barnesville, is facing charges of unsworn false statement, false identification to law enforcement, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and obedience to traffic control devices.

On May 23 Williams was stopped along Pine Street, near Biddle Street, for a traffic violation. At the stop he gave a false name and birth date to the officer. Upon further investigation it was learned his license was under suspension and there was an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear.

He was taken into custody without incident and the vehicle he was operating was towed from the scene. Williams was placed in the county prison on the warrant. Police noted Williams has a history of traffic violations including multiple speeding offenses which he failed to respond to.
