Driver hits state police vehicle on 115, fled scene

A crash at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday along Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County, which involved a state police cruiser and a hit-and-run driver.

Troopers said Joshua W. Oliver, 26, of Blakeslee, was operating a 2017 Ford Explorer state police vehicle behind a Nissan Frontier pickup truck going southbound and approaching the intersection with Long Pond Road. The other driver began to brake and appeared to be pulling off the road to the right. As Oliver began to overtake the other vehicle on the left, the other driver suddenly turned left into the path of Oliver. He swerved to the left to avoid impacting the other vehicle. His vehicle went onto the berm and struck guide rails on the east side. The other driver fled the scene.

The state police vehicle sustained extensive damages and was towed. Oliver sustained a suspected minor injury.

The Nissan is an older model truck last seen going east on Long Pond Road. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-646-2271.
