Albrightsville man placed in ARD program

Matthew Martin Hughes, 48, of Albrightsville, was placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday.

He appeared before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II for the placement in the program for first-time offenders.

Hughes is charged with recklessly endangering another person filed by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident on March 3 at the defendant’s home. Troopers responded to a domestic incident.

Hughes and the victim, his girlfriend, are still together, it was noted.

He was placed for a year and assessed $450 and ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee.

If he successfully complete the program, his record will be wiped clean. However, if he fails to complete it, or is revoked from the program, he will have to stand trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
