State police at Frackville — crashes

State police at Frackville reported investigating the following crashes on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:37 p.m. on May 15 along the Burma Road in Blythe Township.

Troopers said Logan A. Siliekus, 19, of Kingston, Luzerne County, was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero northbound and traveling too fast for road conditions. He failed to negotiate a left curve and crashed into a tree. Siliekus refused medical treatment. The vehicle had to be towed.

He as cited for the crash.

• A crash was reported at 10:22 a.m. on May 16 along the Burma Road in East Norwegian Township.

Troopers said Scott K. Houser, 28, of Frackville, was operating a Suzuki GSX R600 motorcycle southbound and negotiating a left-hand curve when he lost control. The bike went onto the right shoulder.

Houser sustained suspected minor injuries and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pottsville Campus. The bike had to be towed.

He was cited for drivers required to be licensed.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:05 p.m. on May 18 along Route 54 (Vulcan Hill), in Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said Mark M. Mayes, 52, of Barnesville, driving a 2001 Volvo truck with trailer, was parked along the westbound shoulder checking a possible vehicle malfunction. He then attempted to re-enter the road to make a left turn.

Christopher Brennan, 42, of Mahanoy City, driving a 2009 Chevrolet Colbalt, was westbound and negotiating a right curve when he encountered Mayes. The two vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. The Cobalt had to be towed.

Brennan was cited for drivers required to be licensed.

• A crash was reported at 3:37 p.m. on Wednesday along Big Mine Run Road in Butler Township, involving three vehicles, two of which were parked.

Troopers said Thomas J. Kulick, 47, of Mount Carmel, was operating a 2014 Ford Escape northbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked 2017 Ford Focus, which then struck a parked 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.

No injuries were reported. The Escape had to be towed.

Kulick was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:40 p.m. on May 22 along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County. Troopers said David R. Zerby, 31, of Frackville, was southbound in the left passing lane while it was raining. He lost control of his 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, slid across the right lane before striking an embankment. Zerby was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

Zerby was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:02 p.m. on Sunday along the Burma Road in Ryan Township. Troopers said Ronald W. Sallada, 46, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan eastbound when he said a deer entered the road in front of him. He was unable to avoid the animal and struck it causing disabling damages to his vehicle. Sallada and passenger, Vikki Sallada, 47, same address, were not injured.

A one-vehicle crash occurred at 7:08 a.m. on Monday along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Kiwanda L. Reddick, 47, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was driving a 2019 Ford Fiesta southbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She steered to the right to void the animal but could not and struck it. Damages were minor to the vehicle. Reddick and two passengers were not injured.
